Stop Stupidity Now

Stupidity does not imply a lack of intelligence or experience but rather an error in the art of judgment. Stupidity spotlights the inability to draw sound conclusions based upon observation and evidence.  One must be able to apply one’s knowledge and experience ideally and practically, factoring in illusions, with logic and love in order to achieve the heights of wisdom.

As Socrates points out in Plato’s Phaedo, “to express oneself badly is not only faulty as far as language goes, but does harm to the soul”.

“Deficiency in judgment is just what is ordinarily called stupidity, and for such a failing there is no remedy.  An obtuse or narrow-minded person to whom nothing is wanting save a proper degree of understanding and the concepts thereto, may indeed be trained through study, even to the extent of becoming learned.  But such people are commonly still lacking in  judgment.  It is not unusual to meet learned men who in the application of their scientific knowledge betray that original want, which can never be made good.”

Kant, Critique of Pure Reason
