ESSENTIAL OILS

trees & medical science, excerpt from Wellness In a Toxic Age

Hippocrates, Ancient Greek physician, treated patients with essential oils and while they are no longer prescribed by Western medical doctors, digestive disorders are treated today with synthetic tree bark.  Eastern and Alternative health practitioners recommend tree bark supplements, powders and natural teas for soothing the belly.  Native Americans also relieved the churning tummy and other symptoms of ill health with parts of trees.  Western, Eastern & alternative health care providers, even indigenous peoples, all agree in practice that the stuff of trees, e.g., bark, leaves, sap, relieves symptoms and conjures healing.  Still, essential oils work differently with our bodies, our environment than the artificial tablets modeled on the wisdom of trees.

essential oils, excerpt from Wellness in a Toxic Age

From cleaning to moisturizing the skin, essential oils derived from trees are enormously beneficial for achieving and maintaining wellness in any age, especially a toxic age.  While it is common knowledge that trees produce oxygen and clean the air, there is so much more to the story of the wisdom of trees.  Essential oils tend to some of science’s unknowns in the microscopic world.  For example, the oils of lavender and eucalyptus tree destroy unhealthy bacteria, leaving the healthy to live on.  While the mechanism of their choosing is unknown, it is known that trees and humans share some of the same micro-enemies, making their oils ideal candidates for helping with the clean up of our toxic age.

Essential oils allow for trust in nature’s purposiveness where science cannot yet measure.
